Thanks and farewell…
I extend my deepest gratitude to all of the contributors, readers, artists, musicians, and friends of artssf.com for your participation, encouragement, and support throughout these past decades. What began as a personal passion evolved into a meaningful community of people who cared deeply about the arts, music, culture, and the creative spirit of San Francisco and beyond. It has been one of the great privileges of my life to share that journey with all of you.
For more than 35 years, I had the honor of working professionally as a music critic for the Oakland Tribune and the San Jose Mercury News, experiences that allowed me to witness extraordinary performances, remarkable artistic evolution, and countless unforgettable moments in the cultural life of the Bay Area. artssf.com became a continuation of that lifelong dedication — a place where enthusiasm for the arts could live freely, independently, and passionately. I remain profoundly grateful to every artist, publicist, editor, colleague, contributor, and loyal reader who helped sustain that mission over the years.
Alas, the time has come for me to retire and bring this chapter to a close. While it is bittersweet to say farewell, I do so with immense appreciation for the memories, conversations, discoveries, and friendships that this website has fostered over the decades. I wish each of you happiness, fulfillment, continued curiosity, and inspiration in the years ahead.
Artssf.com will officially close on August 1, 2027. Until then, I hope you will continue to visit, reflect, and celebrate the remarkable journey we have shared together over the years. Thank you once again for being part of it, and for allowing me the privilege of sharing a lifetime devoted to music and the arts.
